Meet the Team
Team Together for Cancer
Our team was created with the inspiration that cancer can only be cured when we come together to fight against this global health problem. Research, education, support, and advocacy to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood cancers can be funded only by working together and working towards a common goal. Team Together for Cancer has members across LCPS: Freedom HS, Stone Bridge, Broad Run, and the Academies of Loudoun. Please support our team in any way you can!

My Reason WHY
My Reason WHY
Hearing the words "you have cancer" is not an easy phrase to hear. One of my aunts died of ovarian cancer and my uncle-in-law passed away recently from lung cancer. It was not easy and hard on my direct and intermediate family.
This year's SVOY Honored Hero is Drew Snapkoski, who I was very much inspired by to participate in this campaign. Drew (currently age 10) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at the age of 5. He underwent many chemotherapy treatments over the course of three years, as well as spinal taps and countless injections. It was through LLS and nonprofits that he became an advocate for childhood cancer and continues to inspire others to fight for a cancer-free future.
Through Student Visionaries of the Year, I want to make an impact in the research and medical world to help families with individuals diagnosed with blood cancer, so fewer people can go through such hardships. No family should ever have to go through such hard times. I also want to advocate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society about their mission.

The Start of a Journey
A Message Before Kickoff
When becoming a candidate for this amazing campaign, I knew that my excitement would not be able to contain itself. I was well aware of the dedication and passion I would have to pour into this campaign. Signing on as a solo candidate for Team Together for Cancer marks the start of my journey to help cure cancer. I'm thrilled with my team members, and I can't wait for kickoff!
About Me!
Hello! My name is Allison Tay and I'm currently a junior attending Freedom High School and the Academies of Loudoun. Some activities that I'm involved in are boy scouts and sea scouts, so I'm very passionate about community service and helping out those around me.
My interest and knowledge about this campaign grew when my friends participated in this very same campaign last year. They've had great successes with their teams, and their encouragement and support were the final push I needed to join this amazing campaign. Once learning about the mission of LLS and how determined they are, I was only more driven to step up and do my part to make a difference.
About This Campaign
My goal for this campaign is to raise more than $40,000 to help cancer patients just like my aunt and uncle-in-law, who both passed to cancer. Please help support my team and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission of providing research, advocacy, education, and support in the fight against blood cancer! All donations are tax-deductible. Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!
Together for Cancer, united for a cure!

Thank you for making this effort, Allison. Many members of my family, including my mother and youngest brother, have died from cancer. It will take all of us working against its various forms to minimize the impact of this disease.
